What is a Fluoroscopy?
Fluoroscopy is a form of X-ray that uses a special type of equipment called a fluoroscope, used by a specially trained technologist, to image organs, joints and movement within the body in real-time.
Contrast that is swallowed or injected is watched for any unusual patterns to help in a diagnosis. The most common is the GI (digestive) tract exam where barium is swallowed and watched as it passes through the stomach. Many organs, such as the kidneys, gallbladder, and arteries also can be examined this way.
